Hi weirdoes 🙂
I hope everyone protesting today is sound and safe. Morever, I hope that we as a country unite not just for #ZumaMustFall but all the time. Today, I am going to review the much coveted and the much loved BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette. I know I am super late to review as this palette was released long ago however with the Deluxe edition being just released I thought this would be beneficial to people who may want to purchase that as it features 11 of the original shades. This is also my first “make up review” so any feedback will be gladly appreciated.
Carli Bybel collaborated with BH Cosmetics and created this gorgeous palette. Carli Bybel has over 5 million followers on Youtube and if you don’t know who she is I suggest you follow her. Carli is such a sweet and genuinely nice person, she wanted to create a palette that was super affordable. It was launched in 2015 September, the launch was absolutely insane. This palette really broke the internet the day it was launched. There were thousands and thousands of people trying to access the BH Cosmetics website and the website crashed. Carli has now also started her own line called Pranava Beauty you can read about https://pranavabeauty.com/ where she is also raising funds for sending girls to study at tertiary institutions. I admire her for this. This limited edition palette is a fan fave but is it my favourite?
“Beauty expert and YouTube sensation Carli Bybel designed this versatile 14 Color Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette to dial up the drama and add excitement to your look. Carli’s taste for chic refinement and modern elegance inspired her to select a collection of earthy neutrals and plummy brown shades with four face highlighters that complement every skin tone. The mix of mattes and shimmers make it easy to go from amped-up evening intensity to toned-down daytime options.”
Talc, Dimethicone, Silica, Isopropyl Palmitate, Diisostearyl Malate, Squalane, Magnesium Stearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol,Ethylhexylglycerine.
Price of the palette:
$12.50 which I think is quite affordable for the amount of product you get. However this is not available on the BH Cosmetics site anymore.
This palette is very lightweight and travel friendly with gorgeous white and silver packaging. It is all white and at first I thought this may be hard to keep clean but it is quite easy to wipe clean. The packaging is a very glossy cardboard, it has a really cute cushion and pearl design on the front. At the back there is a beautiful border design with some details about the product on the back. It is very pretty and feminine and gives a very elegant feel. On the inside is a very good sized mirror and below the mirror it says “Aspire to Inspire” which I think is so cute yet meaningful.
My First impression with the BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette:
The Carli Bybel contains 5 matte, 5 shimmer eyeshadows and 4 very shimmery and luminous highlighters. Every eyeshadow is velvety soft, smooth, blendable and quite pigmented. None of the shadows are chalky. I love the colour scheme of this palette. All the eyeshadows are fairly universal. This is a very autumn/fall like type vibe with the mauve and plum and then the natural shades like cream, browns and copper. The matte shadows have more fallout than the shimmer, also I don’t think you could do a dark smokey eye with the palette alone. There is no individual name shades which would have been fun to have and easier to write about. They stay on my eye lids for about 4-5 hours without fading. I am sure with an eyeshadow primer they will last longer. They do not crease at all. All the powders are so finely milled and are so beautiful.
This the first BH Cosmetics palette I have tried but I have been following Carli for a while and she is such an amazing YouTuber. This palette is cruelty free, paraben free and non-irritating.
The Top Row of Eyeshadows:
The top row is comprised of more cool toned mauve and purple eye shadows. It consists of 4 matte eyeshadows and 1 stunning pink shimmer eyeshadow.
Middle Row of Eyeshadows:
The second row is a mix of all shades in it, it has champagne, bronze and chocolate in it. It has 4 shimmer and just 1 matte eyeshadow. The colours are so beautiful and are full of shimmer.
Last row of highlighters:
The highlighters are very shimmery. They are absolutely stunning. I love that there is a variety of colours and they can be used as eyeshadows also. The first two highlighters are great for everyday highlighting but the last two are too dark to be used as highlighters for medium(Indian) skintone, they will suit girls with a dark complexion. I prefer using them as eyeshadows only. The first two highlighters give such a natural luminous glow. The highlighters aren’t too chunky or powdery, they are very sheer and nothing too gaudy or loud. Honestly the highlighters in this palette can be compared to some very high end highlighters, they are so good.

Final thoughts on the BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette:
This palette is gorgeous and I think that the price you’re getting it for is totally a steal. I would give this a 8/10. There is no transition shade. The only issue for me is that on my dark eye lids they were not visible on camera and I felt like they would work better on light-medium skin tones. I wet the eyeshadow brush with water and still felt like it was not helping. I do also use concealer on my lids. Maybe with an eyeshadow primer it would work better but I do not use a primer. It comes with colours that are universally very flattering and are of extremely high quality. If you love these colours then I suggest you get this palette or rather the new Deluxe edition palette that was recently released. It is still to arrive. You could purchase this palette from www.pinkcosmetics.co.za or www.samika.co.za and www.musebeauty.co.za and Vanity Line on Facebook.
