Hi, weirdos 🙂
Thank you for the positive responses I got on last weeks 5 posts. If you haven’t read them all yet, what are you waiting for? I will be posting 1-2 times a week from now onwards, most likely a Tuesday and Friday. The focus this week is make up, remember you are welcome to send your requests to me on any of my social media platforms.
Today I am going to review the popular Me & Youth Quick Makeup Fix. I actually won this but I have been wanting to try this since I heard of it so thanks to the universe. Me & Youth is a South African company previously known as The Beauty Fix. They changed their name in order to retail globally as their former name was already taken.
Their slogan is “keep being you”, motivating you to embrace your unique beauty. Essentially, they want you to feel comfortable in your own skin – no matter your age. By providing tools for great skin, helping you to look your youngest and best, naturally. Their products are free from animal testing, synthetic colours, fragrances, parabens, PEGs, ethanolamines, sulphates, mineral oils and silicones.
Okay, let’s get into the nitty gritty…
Product claim(website): “I’m what they call an ‘all-rounder’. Need a primer? I’ve got your back. Want an ultra-refreshing setting spray that keeps the cake out of your contour? Honey, that’s me. I’m even here whenever you crave a quick, hydrating pick-me-up throughout your day. I’m scientifically formulated to feed your skin with a perfect pH balance of 5.5, making me suitable for all skin types. My key ingredients are rosewater, aloe vera extract, and cucumber extract – a wonderful, gentle scent combination if I do say so myself.”
Price: R250 for 1.7 fl. oz. – 50 ml but it is currently on sale for R200 here and there’s free shipping throughout South Africa! Bonus!
Ingredients(website): Aqua (Water), Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Propylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Bioflavonoid Complex, Organic Acid Blend, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid.
Aloe juice is known for healing sensitive sunburned skin to shrinking pores and soothing any acne flare-ups . Biosaccharide Gum-1 binds water to the skin, thus helping to keep it moisturized, soft and smooth, it can also soothe irritated skin. Phenoxyethanol is considered a safe and effective preservative when used in amounts approved for use in leave-on or rinse-off cosmetics products. Rose water helps maintains the pH balance of the skin, control excess oils and helps reduce redness amongst other toning properties. The cooling effects of cucumber are great for calming sensitive skin types. Astringent properties help to balance oily skin and improve the appearance of large pores and acne.
Packaging: I loved how feminine and chic the packaging of the product is. The branding is beautiful and clean, it’s what drew me to it. The product itself is a nozzle white spray bottle with a black cap. The nozzle is great and sprays evenly. I just pop it into my bag and carry it on-the-go.
Thoughts on the Quick Makeup fix: This product claims to be a primer, refiner and a refresher so I broke down each claim for you to see if it is worth the buy.
Primer: I do not really have large pores so I cannot speak to whether this fills in pores or not but for a mist, I doubt it will perform like a silicone primer. I spritz this before applying make up and it feels soothing. This is amazing for dry and dehydrated skin as it instantly makes your skin feel hydrated. Initially, I thought the smell was too strong but it has grown on me, it’s a rosy fragrance. With the above-mentioned ingredients, it assists with inflammation and itching for irritated skin.
Refiner: I love contouring and baking, my face sometimes(I can’t bake those yummy foods.) This Quick Makeup Fix mist gets rid of the cakey-ness and gives you that photoshopped finished look. My make up generally lasts long but I would say this keeps it looking great for about 5 hours. This works better as a fixing spray which gives you more of an airbrushed look and it really succeeds at that. Similar to the MAC Fix+, this blends the powders seamlessly.
Refresher: You know when you feel your face getting too dry in the day or you are just needing some refreshing? This is my go to! It feels cooling and soothing on the skin and helps with the oil production. I have used this on both warm and cold days and it hydrates pretty well in comparison to other finishing sprays. This lives in my handbag now especially in these dry months it really has come to the rescue with its incredible formula.
Overall thoughts: This is probably the best refining/refreshing spray I have used. It’s hydrating and calming on the skin. The mist is fine and does not irritate the eyes. It may not fill in pores or do what your primer does but for the purpose of a finishing spray and referesher, it is excellent. As it is currently on sale, I definitely think it is worth the buy. If you’re looking for something to help your make up last the entire day this is not it. I love that it is cruelty free(Beauty without Cruelty approved), it is also a brand local to South Africa and there is nothing better than it’s finest ingredients.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know if you have tried this or the Me&Youth brand?
Until next post,
xx Miss Dhanusha

This is one of my faves! Have repurchased twice.
Oh wow! I didn’t see your review on it if you did? That’s great to know 😊
I owned this when they were still called the beauty fix and I absolutely loved it. I’ve been waiting for your review on it because I was super jealous when you shared your delivery on your instastories. lol. Great review babes. This is definitely a great buy!
Oh wow! Great enough for it to be taken abroad! Thanks for reading. 🌼
I’ve never used a hydrating spraying before but I have wanted to. I have really sensitive skin so I have to be careful of what I use. This doesn’t sound like it would aggravate my skin though. I LOVE packaging and this is super clean and eye catching.
Definitely worth trying if you can!
