All about that glow, about that glow, L'oreal Pure Clay Glow mask review

Hi weirdos 🙂
So I am super excited about today’s review because I tried the product today. Hence, this is a first impressions review. I am sure you have seen these masks everywhere by now. I am definitely a bit late on the bandwagon but I am always late so no surprise there. They were really hyped up and I saw it on sale at Takealot and I caved. So is it worth the hype? I also got a sample of the Bodyshop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask which I used with this, kinda multimasking? I will do a quick review of this at the end.
There are 3 masks in the new Loreal pure clay range: Purity mask – deeply purifies, mattifies; Detox mask – cleanses, clarifies; Glow mask – brightens, exfoliates. I chose the Glow mask as this had the best rating when I read reviews.

L’oreal Pure Clay Glow mask review

Product description:
For the first time, the L’Oreal Paris laboratories have selected three pure clays and combined them with red algae extract, known for its brightening properties. The beaded, creamy texture illuminates tone by exfoliating the skin’s surface without drying it out.A powerful blend of 3 pure clays: Koalin: A highly effective natural clay, known to absorb impurities and excess sebum. Montmorillonite: Rich in minerals, a clay recognised for helping to eliminate imperfections. Ghassoul: A pure clay highly concentrated in minerals renowned to help clarify complexion. Instant and lasting, visible results: Immediately: skin is softer, smoother and brighter. Use for one week: pores feel tighter, skin texture is refined. Use after use: skin is visibly transformed, with an even healthy glow. Tested under dermatological control.
Price:
R150 from Clicks, Dischem

Packaging:
The size is 50ml which they indicate should be 10 applications. This could be more if you use it on only certain areas of the face. It’s comes in a beautifully designed glass cube shaped jar. I may have just gotten it because the lid is green(kidding), but I love this colour. It is travel sized and quite convenient to take on trips however after my glass foundation breaking(crying face) I am going to keep all glass packaged products at home.

My experience with the L’oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask:
Lets begin with the smell, it has a quite a strong kaolin smell which is a seaweed-like scent. I love the smell of it. The texture is thick, creamy and quite granular. You can definitely feel the finely milled apricot seeds in it that is meant to exfoliate your skin. I used a brush but you can definitely use your fingers to apply the mask. It says to apply a thin layer and leave on for 10 minutes but I left it on for 15 minutes and it worked for me. It dried down quite fast after applying, it did not tingle or anything on my face but it did feel quite refreshing. Washing it off is quite easy, just add warm water and wash off. I am trying to conserve water so I used a wet towel. The skin felt softer and smoother afterwards. My pores look more refined and it definitely made my skin look brighter. I know I usually use things for a while before reviewing but this was really impressive and I cannot wait to use it again. It says you can use it upto 2-3 times a week.
Overall thoughts:
My skin feels refreshed, smooth and soft after using this mask. It also feels tight and looks brighter. I am quite impressed with this mask and would recommend it for anyone who has rough skin or clogged skin or just wants a radiant glow. It also removes excess oil on your face. It does have an overpowering fragrance which some people may not like and sensitive skin may not like this. I would score this a 9/10 because of the strong scent. I am going to try get my hands on the other two masks in the range when I can.

I cannot really speak about the packaging as I have a sample of it. I tend to usually get samples before buying a bit more expensive products as I’d like to know if they work before dropping hundreds on it.

My experience with the The Bodyshop Himalayan Charcoal Mask:
I immediately felt the slight tingling sensation when I applied this to my T-zone. It is not overwhelming but more refreshing. Bamboo Charcoal is a powerful detoxifying key ingredient which really leaves your skin feeling fresh and unclogs those pores. You can see and feel the little green tea leaves that exfoliate the skin. Looking at my skin afterwards, it looks clearer and refined, also feels tighter. Excess oils have been removed as well.
Overall thoughts:
I would definitely recommend this mask for people with acne prone skin or that need something to control the oil produced on their face. This is one of those masks that is worth splurging on. I would rate this 10/10 because I really felt it work and see the results.

These masks make my skin look so good I don’t want to wear make up out tonight(minus my raccoon dark circles) but then where’s the fun in that?
