Anastasia Beverly Hills – Illuminator Riviera Review

Hello weirdos 🙂
Happy workers day to you busy bees! I hope you are enjoying this day off and the long weekend. I definitely had a good time with family and friends. Today I am catching up on some sleep, series and testing out some new products. I want to review one of my most valuable make up possessions, my favourite highlighter!
I am pretty sure almost every make up junkie loves highlighting their face. When I don’t have time to put on a full face of make up, I throw on some highlighter, lipstick and mascara and I am good to glow! I also think that you could never have too many highlighters but there is one that really stands out in my books. It is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in the shade “Riviera.”

Packaging:
It comes in a sleek black gloss flip open compact case with gold print. It is quite extravagant with a mosaic design on it that actually helps pick up product. The case in quite sturdy and easy to travel with. Yes, one cannot leave ones’ fav highlighter at home!
Texture & Pigmentation:
Riviera is a creamy powder texture that is colored and quite pigmented. It has a metallic finish that is great on its own and could work as blush for some skin tones. It is doesn’t look powdery or ashy on the skin.

My experience with the ABH Illuminator Riviera:
When I first got this gorgeous product, of course the first thing I did was swatch it. When I saw how pigmented it is I knew it would not take much effort to apply. I use my fan brush and lightly pick up product and apply to my cheek bones and blend as needed. While it is quite pigmented, it’s not so pigmented that you need to be careful with application.  I don’t usually need to go in twice. I use my finger to apply to my cupids bow, nose and forehead as wells as under my brows. I just find it easier for those areas of the face. It gives a good sheen to the cheeks without emphasizing pores. There is no glitter or chunky bits in it which is great. The colour is coppery but also bit some plum-like tones which make it perfect for Autumn but you know I am going to wear this all year round! It is a unique colour that can be used on its own. It would suit medium to darker skin tones better than fair skin but works on most skin tones. There are other shades in the range I will list below. It last a good 8 hours or so on my skin without a setting spray.
The other shades available are: Peach Nectar(better for darker skin tones) which is an Apricot gold and So Hollywood(better on lighter skin tones) which is a true gold.

My overall thoughts:
This is by the far the best and most unique highlighter I have used. It is a dream to apply and looks really popping on the skin. If you want to “glow for the gods” I definitely recommend it.  While I got mine for half price because it was cracked during shipping(don’t judge the student life), I understand it is a little pricey after being imported, but a little goes a long way. This will last me forever and I can glow 24/7. I give this a 12/10 if you know what I am saying! Anastasia definitely knew what she was doing when she created these babies because I would love to try the other colours. One highlighter is never enough!
If you are on a tight budget I would recommend the Colourpop Wisp highlighter which retails for around R200.
Here is a look I created with ABH Illuminator Riviera:

You can purchase Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Illuminator from Vanity Line on Facebook or vanity_line on Instagram. Amber Millar who is the owner is the sweetest and kindest imported I know! All her goods are authentic. Also, a little birdy told me it’s currently on sale for R500 instead of R750. 🙂
P.S. The first image is from the Anastasia Beverly Hills website, the others are my own.
Until next time my weirdos..
Glow girl! 😛
