OFRA long lasting liquid lipstick review

Hi my weirdos,
First and foremost I do apologize for not posting sooner. The demands of student life nearing examinations is significantly greater not to mention my sports as well as extra curricular activities. I am new to the blogging world and student life so please bear with me while I create a routine(spontaneous chaotic world that is Miss Dhanusha)
Today I am reviewing the ever so loved Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks. While you may have seen on my Instagram story about two weeks back, I attended the Ofra pop up store in my backyard, Tygervalley . I got to swatch everything and was completely amazed by the quality and pigment of all the products. They had a 30% discount so I purchased a liquid lipstick after much deliberation and assistance from Marilda(OFRA SA distributor). After about 20 swatches she helped me choose the shade “Americano.”
Before I get into the review, for those of you that haven’t heard of OFRA, here is some insight into the brand:
Ofra Gaito, a therapist and makeup artist, entered the beauty industry in 1979. During the years she lived in South Africa, Ofra worked in the field of aesthetics. After the success of her first salon and spa, Ofra opened a second salon and spa which thrived throughout the ‘80s. In the early ‘90s, Ofra expanded her business to include products distribution for European cosmetic companies in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. This growth increased distribution to over 400 new locations.
By 1994, Ofra and her husband, David, created their own line of skin care and makeup products and OFRA Cosmetics was being produced stateside. Today, OFRA is an internationally recognized name in the beauty industry.
Also, note that OFRA is a cruelty free brand that uses no animal ingredients. YAY! 🙂
Okay lets see if it lives up to it’s hype.

Packaging:
A cute black box with a slit in the front showing the shade encloses an elegant looking plastic tube with a standard doe foot applicator. The branding is printed around it but it fades away similar to the Colourpop liquid lipsticks tube. I watched a video with the old packaging and this is definitely an upgrade. The shade name is on the bottom which helps to identify it.
Price:
$19.90 USD. R320 in South Africa for 6ml product.(the regular liquid lipstick size)
Ingredients(from box):
Cyclopentasiloxane and Disteardimonium Hectorite and Propylene Carbonate, Isodecane, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Trdecyl Trimelliate, Bis Diglyceryl Polyacyladiapte-2, Phenoxy Ethanol, Ethylehexyglycerin.
Formula:
These are quite different to the traditional liquid lipstick. It is quite thick and moussey and applies quite opaquely on the lips. The pigment is great and applies with one swipe. Although it does not feel heavy on the lips it does still have a bit of a tacky feel even after drying. It is not drying and does not crack or flake of the lips but the slight tacky feel is something I need to get used to. While it does transfer a little when eating or drinking, it still leaves significant colour on the lips. It reminds me of the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creme texture but with the Nyx Lip lingerie lasting power. If you like a non powdery finish liquid lipstick you will like this. This shade in particular is a slightly darker orange based nude that I have been searching for a while and I love it! It does have a slight shimmer, I mean very slight that you can barely see on the lips. I am not really sure why it has a shimmer but I am totally okay with it!

The scent is slightly vanilla and something else, I can’t really place it but it does smell good.
My favourite formula at the moment in the Huda liquid mattes you can read about here as it feels like nothing on the lips.
Lasting power:
It can last upto 6-8 hours. If it does fade its mostly on the inner middle part of the lips. This happens with eating oily foods. However it is a dream to reapply.
Overall thoughts:
I think the formula and the colours available are both great. They definitely live upto the hype. There are over 50 shades to choose from, something for everyone. If you are looking for something more hydrating than the average liquid lipstick this is the definitely one to try. It is comfortable on the lips and lasts pretty long. I am hoping to get a few more, Atlantic City, Hypno Havana nights and Mocha are on my wishlist. If you are on a tight budget I recommend the Nyx Liquid Suede or Lip Lingerie(this is more drying however).
