Winter is coming! I kid, it is definitely here, I am freezing in Cape Town. Hope you guys are staying warm. Side note: have you seen the Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer? I cannot wait for it. My go to lipsticks for Winter besides the dark shades are nudes for everyday use. I feel like it goes with every look and works well with no make up on.
Today, I will spill the beans on my 5 favourite nude lipsticks as well as a nude lipliner. But, today is special as it’s my first collaboration. (claps like a mad seal) I have teamed up with the lovely Yolanda from Slay Uniqueness.

It is not easy finding the perfect nude. No matter the complexion of your skin, some nudes can wash you out or just not look right on you. The best nude is a shade or two darker than your own lip colour. Often these lipsticks can change colour on the lips, they too can oxidize, so if you can swatch them then definitely do that first.
These are not listed in any particular order. A good nude is a good nude.(I am NC45 in Mac for reference but this will suit most tones in the nc42-55 range).

EL Double Wear- Bronze, Yardley- Caramel, Clinique even better- Ginger, Clinique Superbalanced – 16 Silk Almond, Rimmel Match Perfection- 502, Mac Face & Body -C7, Revlon- Toast.
Okay now lets get to sharing some nudes, also there’s a surprise at the end of this post.

1.Colourpop Ultra matte – Beeper

I absolutely love this shade and formula. It is the perfect pink based nude for my skin tone. I love pairing it with a neutral eye look or even a smokey eye. This is a matte finish and is super long lasting. This is fully opaque on the lips and applies smoothly. It is quite runny and take about 30 seconds to dry down. It feels like almost nothing on the lips. It does not transfer. Beeper is also a dupe for Candy K from Kylie Cosmetics. You can purchase this from Samika Store. It usually sells for around R200 from importers.

2. Nyx lip lingerie- Ruffle trim

Ruffle trim is a peachy based nude. It is perfect for no make up days or when using warm eye shadow looks. Nyx lip lingerie have quite a long lasting formula but I do prefer Colourpop formula which you can read about here. It dries down matte and sometimes has to be layered on. It can be quite drying on the lips, I recommend using a lip scrub and balm before applying. It can transfer just a little when eating or drinking. If you find this slightly light, apply some foundation or concealer over the lips before.

3.  Nyx lip lingeris- Honeymoon

I have been in love with this shade since first moment I tried it. I am one of those people that never really like something the first time but this had me like damn! This is a brown based nude with a bit of grey undertones. I have been searching for a brown nude since forever. Some people may find this ashy but try the trick I mentioned above. The formula on this is the same as the one above. The great thing is you can swatch it in store. The lip lingerie has many amazing nude shades for all skin tones.  4. Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color – Mochalicious

As you probably noticed, I am a liquid lippie kinda gal. However, this formula is quite creamy and comfortable on the lips. Mochalicious is the perfect every day nude lipstick, it is more of a mauvey nude. I love it. It has a semi-matte finish and last at least 4-6 hours on the lips. It can last longer if you are not eating/drinking. Otherwise, you need to reapply. The only thing I do not like it the cap, it chipped and always comes off. This is still a steal for R48,95 from Clicks.

5. Huda beauty liquid matte – Spice Girl

Now this is my favourite lipstick formula, you can real the full review here. This is a shade darker than mochalicious but on the lips it looks quite similar. This would definitely work best on darker skinned gals as a nude but this shade looks great on everyone. The formula is runny, applies with one swipe and is fully opaque. It has a matte finish and takes about a minute to dry, it does not transfer and is super long lasting. It feels like nothing on the lips. I am in love with this lipstick. It makes me feel like a Spice Girl, I definitely would have been Sporty Spice. (but I like Posh best) The full size sells for R590 from Samika store.

BH Cosmetics Waterproof Lipliner – Nude

I ordered this by chance when I ordered a brush set from BH Cosmetics. I love this lipliner as it really is waterproof. I tried to smudge it on my hand it does not move. It is creamy and opaque and does not dry out the lips.I can wear it under most nude lipsticks or on it’s own. It is great for also creating an ombre effect as well as making your lips look fuller. It is most affordable lip liner I have found for my skin tone. It is $4.99 on BH Cosmetics website. If you are looking for something local then give Mac Whirl or Spice liner. Essence also has awesome roll up liners as well as Colourpop.

Sometimes I combine some of these nudes as I am always trying to concoct my own nude shades. I love Colourpop Beeper and Nyx Honeymoon together. Other nudes I love are Mac -Persistence, Wet n Wild – Bare it all/ Sandstorm, Nyx Lip creme- Abu Dhabi, Dose of Colors – Truffle.
