My makeup must haves by Asha Singh- Collaboration

Hi, weirdos!
How is your womens month? I am juggling my blog, interviews and studying. Let’s hope I snag a gig soon. Today I am collaborating with a power women, she is knowledgeable, humble and adventurous. I love her free spirit and open-mind. Not to mention, she is always boosting my ego hehe. Asha has put together her make up must haves.
I’m Asha from the blog Life By Asha Singh. Although as a current affairs and politics blogger it isn’t particularly evident, I’m actually a total makeup junkie! I’m always catching up on YouTube makeup tutorials (My favorites are Kaushalbeauty and Habiba Da Silva – more especially because they have similar skin tones to mine), drooling over the highlights at the Edgars makeup counter and hoping my mom brings me the latest products from the UAE that aren’t available in South Africa. In this post, I’m going to share with you some of my makeup essentials that I just can’t live without – and the best part is, they’re all available at Clicks stores.

  1.  WET ‘n WILD megaglo contouring palette (R129.95 at clicks)

This is the first contour palette I bought and I always end up going back to it. You have a lot of control with this product, and depending on how much you blend it, you can go from a subtle contour to an intense Kim Kardash-vibes kinda contour. I like power contours because they’re less messy than cream ones and the contour shade really suits my skin tone. Admittedly, the highlight shade doesn’t do much but I use it to set my under eye.

  1. RIMMEL lasting finish foundation (R169.95 at Clicks)

I used to be a die hard fan of the Maybelline Fit Me foundation but it became a hassle always having to ask my mom to buy it for me in Abu Dhabi (It isn’t available in SA) so I eventually gave in and decided to try out other foundations. 3 bottles later and it’s safe to say this Rimmel foundation is my new favourite. Surprising, I actually like it more than the Fit Me one. It’s medium coverage and is buildable to high coverage. It is does tend to make my skin a bit oily so if you have oily skin I would recommend setting it with a powder.

  1. MAYBELLINE The Colossal Volume Express Mascara (About R149.95)

This mascara gives me life. It’s been my go-to mascara for years and I simply can’t live without it. If you want lashes that look like falsies, this is the mascara you need.  I typically layer it quite a bit and I find that it doesn’t clump nearly as much as most other drugstore mascaras. A big bonus is that it’s waterproof too.

  1. MAYBELLINE The Colossal Kajal (R49.95 at clicks)

Being an Indian girl, kajal is a necessity. To be honest, I haven’t come across any kajal/eye liner that has truly wowed me. Every single one tends to smudge. However this one smudges the least and is the most dramatic from all the ones I’ve tried.  I usually set it with some black eyeshadow to prevent smudging. It can also be used to create a winged look although it’s not as intense as liquid liner.

  1. REAL TECHNIQUES brushes (Varies from around R150 at clicks)

I own around 20 RT brushes and I swear by them! I’m not usually someone that likes branded brushes and used to use any brush I can get my hands on (Even ones from the Chinese shop!) But since I began to realize the importanve of good quality brushes, Real Techniques brushes came one of the most important things in my makeup kit. They really are amazing value for money.

BONUS: MAYBELLINE Age Rewind concealer (Not available in SA stores)
Every beauty guru raves about this concealer so there’s really not much I have to say. I’m very disappointed that it’s not available in SA. My mom brought me one from the UAE and it really is worth the hype, so if you get the opportunity to purchase it, please do! BEST. CONCEALER. EVER.
You can purchase it at Samika store. The site in under my discount codes tab.
That concludes my makeup must-haves. As you should have noticed I didn’t mention lip sticks and that’s because my favourite lip sticks alternate depending on the season. A whole other story for a whole other blog post!
What are your makeup essentials? Have you used/are you using any of the products I mentioned?

Awesome post! I love seeing products that look like they are used. Although admittedly, I haven’t used any of the products mentioned but I think that ‘Toast’ in the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation might be a good match for me.

I love a powder contour too, though I sometimes use a gel from Beauty Pie first and then use the powder to set it.
