Mac Lightful C Marine Bright Formula Moisturizer review

Hi weirdoes 🙂
It’s Wednesday, hang in there! The weekend is nearby. I actually started training for a 5 km run this weekend. I am not that lazy after all, or so I am trying to convince myself. I meant to release this post yesterday but I got caught up with the series 13 reasons why, not going to lie. This has been the only Netflix series I completely binge watched since Stranger Things. If you’re watching it let me know what you think..
Now for the review today, I am reviewing the Mac Lightful C Marine bright formula moisturizer which I use in conjuction with the cleanser which you can read about here.

Packaging:
50 ml / 1.7 US fl oz. It comes in a white plastic foundation like bottle with a pump. The pump would be helpful if more product was produced. It has the same iridescent design as the cleanser that is silver but reflects neon colours. It is gorgeous especially if you like to keep skincare products on display.

My experience with the Mac Lightful C Marine Bright Moisturizer:
I will not deny in the beginning the scent put me off completely. It’s strange that MAC chose to use a strong fragrance. Nonetheless, I tried it and after a while I got over the scent, now I don’t even notice it. It is opaque white and has a somewhat creamy silky lotion like texture that does not feel oily or thick. The finish is slightly semi-matte and it provides enough hydration for someone with normal to oily or combination skin. I do not think this would work well for someone with dry skin. It absorbs well into the skin and creates a great foundation base and helps my foundation last longer.
The SPF 30 is great for me as I do not need to use sunscreen with this as well, the less layers the better. UVA protection is provided by zinc oxide, if applied generously this will provide protection for your face and neck from skin damaging UV light. Not to mention besides the anti-aging sun protection, you’re also getting a good mix of antioxidants, including a form of vitamin C (ascorbyl glucoside). The “Bright” part of the name describes this daytime moisturizer’s finish, which is thanks to the mineral pigments mica and titanium dioxide. The effect is cosmetic, but this instantly brightened my skin.

Overall thoughts:
This is an excellent lightweight daytime moisturizer with SPF. It gets bonus points for the broad spectrum sun protection. It hydrates the skin and leaves it looking radiant without any oiliness or heaviness. I love that this moisturizer does not turn my face into an oil slick by the afternoon. Paired with the cleanser, my skin has definitely brightened up over time with continued use. It has great ingredients as well as antioxidants not forgetting the pump style packaging keeps those light and air-sensitive antioxidants stable during use. I rate this 9/10, it it weren’t for the overpowering fragrance it has, it would have got the best rating. However this scent quickly dissipates and doesn’t bother me anymore but may be a problem if you have sensitive skin. It wears extremely well under my make up and with added SPF this is my go-to moisturizer.

I purchased this product but honestly didn’t notice a difference in terms of brightening. It felt like an ordinary moisturizer. Do you think maybe it’s because I only used the moisturizer and not the cleanser?

I think a mask will help with brightening or a toner. I do enjoy the cleanser more the moisturiser. I did review it too

Using a mask or toner is a great idea. I am going to check out your review on the cleanser. Thank you! 🙂

Thank you. The loreal glow clay mask is good for brightening, I did review that.
