Hi weirdos,
I hope you are having a good 2019 thus far. It’s been a bit of a rocky start on my side but things are finally settling down. Not too long ago I was invited to a new restaurant called Osetra. It’s funny because I saw it online and really wanted to try it out. Shortly after seeing it, the invitation came. Am I thinking things into existence? Haha.
Osetra, situated in the scenic village of Kalk Bay opened its doors to the public in October last year. Named after one of the most expensive types of caviar, Osetra embodies its high-end name. The restaurant decor is of a Scandinavian feel, clean lines, wooden furniture, a bit of greenery and lots of natural light. It’s a 220-seater restaurant with quite a diverse menu and an outside terrace which is dog friendly. You have a direct view of the ocean making it the prime spot for a summers day.
The Osetra menu encompasses delicious breakfasts, hearty lunches, spectacular sushi dishes and decadent desserts which include vegan waffles. You can tell it’s a well thought-out menu with the finest ingredients. Whilst it is Asian inspired, there’s definitely something for everyone even the kids and if that’s not enough their wine list has over 250 wines to choose from. It’s fully licenced as a wine boutique, deli and retail store. If you are one of the healthier folks; Osetra stocks super foods, oat flour and other ingredients to make dining healthier.
The vegetarian sushi absolutely blew my mind, so much so that I visited Osetra again with friends four days later after the launch. The sushi is super fresh, flavourful and wonderfully presented. Cape town sushi spots you need to watch out because you have some serious competition! The vegetarian dishes I was presented were all really delicious; I love the fact that they cater to vegetarians, vegans and of course you can request what you desire suited to your dietary requirements.
The service at Osetra is the best my friends and I have ever gotten in our lives; this is not an exaggeration. It’s rare that a restaurant ticks every box and Osetra has done so! It has become my new favourite restaurant; I highly recommend you check it out. They have some great specials too such as half price sushi and cocktails from 11 am to 6pm daily as well as all day on Sundays.
You can find Osetra at 112 Main Road, Kalk Bay, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.
Disclaimer: I was invited to the Media launch event and subsequently dined here on my own. This is not a sponsored post.
