SKIN Functional is a local brand that’s been making waves recently. When they wanted to send me their first cream based product to review, I jumped at the opportunity. SKIN Functional are cruelty free, non-toxic, alcohol-free and fragrance-free and did I mention they are proudly South African?
SKIN Functional creates effective product using trusted ingredients at their optimal concentrations. Their products help restore and maintain skin’s ideal functioning. The brand is all about making skincare jargon easier to understand and delivering results.
I have heard great things about their serums and they are definitely next on list to get. It is one of the first local brands that really tick all the boxes and are affordable.
SKIN Functional Daily moisturiser
Kevin Khosa from SKIN Functional says, “This Daily Moisturiser consists of 5% Black Ginseng + ATP. Complex that is suitable for all skin types and can be used both morning and evening for hydrated and healthier
looking skin.”
Claims:
SKIN Functional Daily Moisturiser claims to protect skin by significantly reducing collagenase, an enzyme which
breaks down collagen and elastin.
Key ingredients:
Black Ginsengs, a great anti-oxidant allows for more water to be captured into the skin. It is also collagen boosting which assists collagen production in the skin and helps the natural growth of cells which then rebuilds the skin.
ATP Complex is the other key ingredient. This powers the batteries of skin cells and as we age we produce less of this. This increases the functioning of skin cells.
Texture
The cream is a little thick and it has a lovely creamy consistency that does not feel too rich. It easily absorbs into the skin without making it feel oily or greasy. It does have a very slight tingle on the skin.

My thoughts
I have tested this product for more than six weeks now and I am ready to share my thoughts. My skin was definitely dehydrated before using this product. With consistent use every night and morning, I felt my skin looked more hydrated and felt plumped up. It looked quite radiant and I love how easily absorbed it is.
For best results you should use oil-based serums before it and let them absorb for atleast three minutes before applying the moisturiser. I find that a little goes a long way so you only need a pea-sized amount when applying it. It also sits quick nicely under make up (with SPF). I definitely loved this moisturiser and would repurchase it. I recommend you check it out as well.
