Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer Review

Hi weirdos,
Happy December! I see many people are excited about this month and I have quite a bit planned so it looks like it’s going to be a good one. Today, I am reviewing the highly anticipated Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer. Shew that’s a mouth full, I know I promised this ages ago but if you are on the Beauty Swop or Sale Facebook group you would have seen my demo of this live.
In case you haven’t heard of Milani, they are a European brand that started retailing online in South Africa not too long ago. Their website reads “Milani Cosmetics targets mass audience beauty needs of women of every demographic around the world. Our research and development team continues to expand the line with innovative products, brought to you in trendsetting colours and styles. For over 25 years Milani Cosmetics have been making superior cosmetics establishing a name in beauty industries all around the world. Every year they do the runways of London and Milan fashion weeks- Inspired by Milan and look by Milani.”
The fact that they make shades for everyone and are cruelty-free had me sold. Not to mention every YouTuber has raved about Milani for years. They are a “drugstore” brand with high-quality products, most of it is reasonably priced. I finally got a chance to try them so you bet the first thing I got was the foundation. We know I am a big foundation fan. They have 16 shades to choose from, I choose Tan 09, it is a match for my skin tone. For reference, I am an NC45 in MAC. If you are not sure how to choose a foundation read here.
I ordered when they had free shipping, it took about 5 days to arrive including the weekend. I had good service and if you have been following me on social media you probably already heard me rave about this product. So is it worth it?
Let’s get into the review…

Price:
R150 for 30ml from their online store here.  It has a 12-month life-span. They do have Johannesburg store you can find on their social media pages.
Packaging:
A sleek high-end product looking glass bottle with a black cap and ombre effect. The label has a gold and black print which is stuck on which doesn’t really take away from its high end feel. It has a pump which is really convenient but I am not the safest with glass. I may decant this into something else when I travel. The ingredients are listed on the back as well as other details, not sure why is it a white label.

 Texture, Coverage & Consistency:
This foundation is quite thick but it has a smooth texture and applies well. I usually dot one pump of it around my face and blend it with a damp beauty blender. I have used it with a brush and this has more coverage. The coverage is medium to full and it is buildable. Also not it has a quite pleasant fragrance, I love it.

Blended slightly with finger

Lasting power, finish & oxidation:
It last a good 8 hours and I tend to get oily on my T-zone so I do set that area with a powder. This foundation has a velvety soft finish. It’s not matte not dewy. It does not oxidize on me(meaning it does not change colour)
Review:
Firstly, I love the way it applies to the skin, it blurs out my pores and evens out my skin tone. I apply one layer and blend and then apply more where needed. It is thick so you don’t want to apply a lot as it will appear cakey. Once it dries down(quite quick) it looks flawless on my face. I can use this over icolourcorrect peach corrector and I would need not use concealer. The coverage is amazing, it hides any marks and blemishes. It may stick to dry parts of your skin so do moisturise well. I think a water-based moisturiser works well with this foundation.
It is a water-based foundation and will suit most skin types. If you are dry skinned you do not need to set it with powder. I love that it still looks natural even though it is quite full coverage. When I build up the coverage it does not get cakey, it does not settle into fine lines or emphasize them. It does have a move olive undertone than yellow but I do not mind this at all. Once all my make up is done the olive tone is not really visible. The pump dispenser makes it easy to know how much to use, is hygienic and easy to clean.
Overall thoughts:
I have been using this foundation for months now and I can safely say this is my drugstore holy grail. If you do not like thick consistencies you can add a drop of highlighter but I do not recommend you add oil(serum) as it water based. If you are a very sheer coverage person this may not be for you. This will suit all skin types I feel most can make it work. It does claim to be water resistant and when I splash water on it, the water glides off. I do not really sweat on my face so I do not know if it is sweatproof. It does transfer a bit if you hug someone so be careful when hugging people. I would definitely repurchase this and I do recommend you give it a try.
This is how it looks on me(no flashbacks in photos):

This is my favourite foundation of all time! I also purchased it when they had free shipping. I was a bit worried about it not matching my skin tine though, but after using Findation.com I chose 02 Natural, which is a perfect match! I have very dry skin and this works well on me. No cakiness or anything. I use a water based moisturiser before applying my foundation (Nutraplus). I was thinking about adding the Avon Miracle glow oil to it the next time I used it, but after reading this I know better, lol. What else would you recommend adding to it if you don’t have a liquid highlighter? I only started using foundation this year and I’m loving it, but I’m still a newbie to all this. I’m obsessed though, and blog posts like this are always helpful!

Have you tried the powder before foundation technique

      1. An Ordinary Gal

Maybe I should…. Didn’t think about that. BUT that being said, I shouldn’t have to try that hard to make a foundation work. Will definitely try that though.
