My top 5 wet n wild products

Hello weirdos,
Welcome to Wednesday’s post, remember to check out the other daily posts this week. I am so excited about the brand I am writing about today – wet n wild. I actually took these pictures in early February which shows you how behind I am on content. Nevertheless, here we are, I find this to be quite an underrated drugstore brand in South Africa but many YouTube gurus abroad do love it. I am going to let you know what my top 5 picks are that I cannot bare living without and why…

1. Megaglo Contouring Palette – Caramel Toffee(shade)

Excuse the the way the packaging looks in this picture, it is very well loved! There are two shades in this contour palette, a banana shade and a contour shade. They are super soft and buttery and do not appear chalky on the skin. There is fallout but I really do not mind it as they are both quite pigmented. The banana shade is the right amount of yellow for my skintone (MAC NC45), I use it to set my under eye concealer and wherever I have highlighted. The contour shade is too warm to be considered a contour shade but I do not really contour much anymore, isn’t contouring dead already? I use it as bronzer and it looks beautiful, it can be built up and still look natural and I really love it. Also, have you seen the size of this? It is 12.5 grams which is quite large, it will last you a long time. The is two palettes like this and the other would probably work better for fair-skinned people. Retails for R129.95.(vegan)

2. Photo Focus Concealer Medium Tawny

20180207_142743-0111442996.jpeg
This concealer is supposed to be a no flashback concealer, while I haven’t really taken too many photos with the flash to attest to it, I really love the formula it has. It’s a lightweight yet quite full coverage and blends in quite nicely. It has a doe foot applicator which makes it easy to apply, it’s easiest to blend in with a beauty sponge and dries quickly so you have to blend it quickly. It does not tend to cake or crease once set with powder and I have been reaching for it ever since I got it. It has a creamy consistency but does not feel heavy under the eyes. There are 6 shades in this range (yup really too few) and only the lighter 4 are available are Clicks. I use the shade Medium tawny to highlight, it is too light to for me to conceal with, it is more yellow toned than Medium peach but they are very similar shades. Retails for R64.95.(vegan)

3. Megaglo highlighting powder – (Crown of My Canopy)

After reading Stardustandlipstick’s review on these I knew I had to get it! It’s a soft finely milled powder than applies beautifully on my skin. This is the perfect shade for my skin tone and maybe even darker skin tones. It has great pigment for a drugstore highlighter and there are a few shades. I just cannot seem to find them on the Clicks page (hoping they are not taken out of stores). I use my Kikibeauty setting spray on my fan brush and then dip it into this highlighter to intensify it even more. I top it with the my favourite Sleek solstice palette. It isn’t the longest lasting highlighter but I still enjoy it quite a bit. Retails for R89.95 if you manage to find them. 🙁

4. Megalast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick

Okay I am not going to rave about these because if you follow me on any of my social media you know I love them to bits! These are super affordable long lasting liquid lipsticks that don’t dry or flake on the lips and I want to add all the shades in my collection. There are actually 22 shades now in this range but not all are at Clicks as usual. Some are very pigmented some need to be built up but they are stunning shades. I did a full review on the formula here so you can check it out if you want to know more. These are the bomb.com. Retails for R99.95

5. Megalast Lip Colour – Mochalicious(shade)20180207_145159-011331455233.jpeg

These lipsticks are known to be good dupes in terms of colour for MAC lippies because they are so pigmented and creamy. They last a good few hours on lips and they do transfer but they are easy to re-apply. For it’s price you can’t expect them to last after eating or drinking a lot. This is one of my go-to nude shades and the only bad thing I can say about it is the packaging sucks. The tops always break or crack and never stay on, other than that they are so many shades to choose from and one for everyone. Retails for R49.95 (just realized I didn’t take a swatch sorry)

Thoughts on the brand

The reason I love wet n wild is because it is a high quality and affordable products that does cater to all skin tones. They are also cruelty free and some of their products are vegan. Some of their products can be compared to high-end products especially their lipsticks and concealers as well as the highlighters. Recently they released their foundation in South Africa and only brought 5 of their light shades, there are 20 shades in the range. The demographic of South African is actually mostly darker-skinned tones so this make no sense to me and I am really dying to try their photo focus foundation. So please bring them in wet n wild and the darker shades of concealers too! I also want to try their mascaras, eye shadow primer, more of their eye shadow palettes and blushes.
Clicks are having a 3 for 2 special on wet n wild products so shop online or head to their stores before you miss out! I hope you enjoyed this, let me know if you would like a full review on any of these products. If you use wet n wild let me know your favourite products.

  2. Wisaal

So funny that I bought three of the 5 today – Contouring Palette, Highlighter and Liquid Catsuit in Give Me Mocha. I really enjoyed this post because it reaffirms my hope for my purchase (and of course because your reviews are always so honest).

I swatched both Crown of My Canopy and Precious Petals in store and Precious Petals suited me way better. Unfortunately they didn’t have it in stock so I had to settle with Crown of My Canopy. I regret it because I knew it was too dark. I’m really hoping I can swap with someone on the BSS group

  4. An Ordinary Gal

I love the liquid catsuit lipsticks! Such FOMO about the highlighters (Funny I actually mentioned that in my post today), but I cannot justify buying another one…but I really want to!!!!!!! URGH!!!
That contour palette also looks lovely. They really have amazing products!

I’m also NC45 (a bit darker in summer) and I use medium tawny to conceal. I mix it with a tiny bit of foundation amd blend it with a beauty blender. Love it! Doesn’t crease even when it’s hot.

  6. Aisha

I love the highlighter and liquid lipsticks as well. Wet n Wild has really stepped up their game, and still kept everything affordable. I just hope we get more of their products on our shores. I get bored of seeing the same stock for a year on end.

True I also hope we get more especially the brushes!
