Happy Friday! Happy Woman’s month. I have some exciting things planned for this month, stay tuned for that. This review is quite overdue, as is most of my reviews (insert *lol*) but this is such a goodie! I am sure you have seen Tati, Laura Lee, Totalmakeupjunkie101 and other YouTubers rave about these $5 lipsticks. If you don’t know these people, gurl quit playing and go look them up now on YouTube!(I mean after you finish reading my post, cough, cough.)
Since I saw them on Instagram I have wanted to try them, Wet n Wild is one of my favourite cruelty-free affordable drugstore brands. These come in 13 different shades, one for everyone, although I would love to see more colours in this range. As I was purchasing it, I was told it would actually be sent to me to review.(Perks of being a blogger). I wanted to actually do this post with a few other products of theirs that I love but as you know I cannot stop myself from writing 1000 words on a product I enjoy. So are these worth all the hype they have? Read on to find out…
Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick – Goth Topic Review
Product claim: What glides on like butter, feels like a second skin and won’t budge? Our Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick! Made with glammed out superpowers, it goes on glossy yet transforms into a high – pigmented matte finish with some serious staying power. Read our lips This color is going nowhere.
Price: $5 at Walgreens or Wet n Wild online in the US. R150 from Pink Cosmetics in SA. There is a discount code for Pink Cosmetics in the tab discount/affiliate codes. They are now available at Clicks for R99,95.
Packaging: A clear plastic tube with the Wet n Wild branding in black in it. The colour is visible through the tube. I like that the branding on the tube does not fade in comparison to other brands such as Colourpop. The doe foot applicator is angled and feels thicker and softer when applying. It makes it easier to apply and control, I really like it! The packaging is sturdy and travel-friendly. The shade name is under it and the cap is black. I did see a little bit of scratches in my pictures on the tube as it is a gloss finish but it’s not really noticeable in person.
Texture: It is quite a thin liquid formula. As mentioned above, this applicator makes it easy to apply. It has a slightly chemical scent which I do not notice when applying. It dries down to completely matte finish in about a minute. Once this is dried, it does not bleed or budge.
Pigmentation: This is super pigmented, fully opaque and one swipe is all it takes to cover your lips.
Shade: Goth Topic is a gorgeous dark plum colour, almost like a blackened purple. It is a rich, bold colour perfect for this winter season. It will suit all skin tones but very light skin tones may not find this appealing. The finish is matte.
Staying power: The staying power of these are absolutely amazing! I went out for drinks, came back in the early parts of the morning and I was so shook. I couldn’t care how I looked by this point and assumed it was all off. I looked in the mirror and it was still put! The inner bits may have moved slightly but you could have sworn I had just put it on maybe a few hours ago. This lasts a good 8 hours, if you eat oily foods then you will maybe have to reapply mostly in the middle section. These definitely last as long or if not longer than high-end brands.
My thoughts on this liquid lipstick: This lipstick is not too drying or sticky on the lips. It is not flaky and neither does it crumble off the lips. It is going to settle into fine lines, uhm, these are what liquid lipsticks do? However, it does not accentuate these fine lines as other liquid matte lipsticks do. I definitely prefer this formula over the Colourpop/Nyx Lip Lingerie. Please just make more shades Wet n Wild and make this available in South African stores? If you need to reapply after eating something oily it layers on fine. It feels quite good on the lips too.
Overall thoughts: I am not going to lie when I say this formula competes with high-end brands! Wet n Wild definitely outdid themselves with this liquid matte lipsticks and I am sure if we put this is a different packaging you wouldn’t be able to set it apart from high end brand either. I apply one swipe on the bottom and one swipe to the top and it lasts the entire night. Probably the best $5 you or I will ever spend. I highly recommend these, 10 out 5, you catch ma drift? And wait, there’s more, it’s Vegan AF! Winner!
This is Goth Topic on me.
I really want the shades Rebel Rose, Give me mocha and Flame of the Game. Have you tried these lipsticks? What do you think of them or which shades do you want to try?
